Poetic Ballad



              Poetic Ballad, comes from the Middle Ages, this types of poems were songs that told stories.Is a form of verse often a narrative that was set into music. It came from the French word chanson balladée which means "dancing songs". Were characteristic of the popular poetry and song of the British Isles from the later medieval period until the 19th century.
              Ballads were composed in couplets with refrains in alternate lines. There are written in ballad stanzas or quatrains, that is a stanza with four lines. Every stanza had a ballad meter this means that the lines where iambic tetrameter and iambic trimeter.
